Appalachian Symphony Band and Appalachian Wind Ensemble: “Around the World”

Symphony Band and Wind Ensemble

The Appalachian Symphony Band and Appalachian Wind Ensemble present a program of works in homage to history, culture, and adventure from around the world! Among the pieces are Julie Giroux’s KHAN, which depicts Genghis Khan and his army on the move, and Percy Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy, a bunch of “musical wildflowers” based on folksongs collected in Lincolnshire, England. Jacques Press’ Wedding Dance is a fiery, fast-paced traditional circle dance that captures the joyous spirit of a traditional Jewish wedding, and Valerie Coleman’s Roma is a tribute to the Romani people in a fusion of styles and cultures. Experience these and more in the bands’ curated program.
