Appalachian Arts
Appalachian Arts, presented by Appalachian State University, enriches our region by presenting world-class performances that both support the University’s teaching mission and enhance the quality of life across the High Country and beyond. By bringing nationally and internationally renowned artists to our stages, we provide transformative experiences that connect the classroom to the broader world, while strengthening the cultural vitality of our community.
Each season, Appalachian Arts offers a diverse array of programming in music, dance, and theatre for audiences of all ages. These performances are paired with meaningful educational and outreach activities that inspire students, foster creativity, and broaden cultural understanding. From symphony and chamber music to jazz, blues, folk, and global traditions—from theatre that ranges from gripping drama to musical comedy, and dance that spans ballet, modern, and international artistry — our series celebrates the power of live performance to inform, engage, and uplift.

About Arts Engagement and Cultural Resources
For over four decades, the Office of Arts Engagement and Cultural Resources at App State has been a driving force behind the High Country’s cultural life. Operating the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts and Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, the office presents three performing arts series — Appalachian Arts, An Appalachian Summer Festival, and APPlause! K-12 Performing Arts — and manages six gallery spaces. These initiatives bring transformative arts experiences to our local and regional community, inspire learners of all ages, and build a cultural legacy for our campus and region.
