Cirque Mechanics quickly established itself as a premiere American circus\, with its unique approach to performance\, inspiring storytelling\, and innovative mechanical staging. Spectacle Magazine hailed it as “the greatest contribution to the American circus since Cirque du Soleil.” \nCirque Mechanics\, although inspired by modern circus\, finds its roots in the mechanical and its heart in the stories of American ingenuity. The shows\, rooted in realism\, display a raw quality\, rarely found in modern circus\, that makes their message timeless and relevant. The stories are wrapped in circus acrobatics\, mechanical wonders\, and a bit of clowning around. The troupe has created five extraordinary productions; Birdhouse Factory\, Boomtown\, Pedal Punk\, 42FT- A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels\, and\, most recently\, the wind-inspired Zephyr. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Parking\nParking can be challenging\, particularly for sold-out events. SUMMARY:St. Paul & The Broken Bones
DESCRIPTION:St. Paul & The Broken Bones are a powerhouse soul ensemble from Alabama known for their electrifying live shows and impassioned vocals. Formed in Birmingham in 2011\, the band features Paul Janeway (vocals)\, Jesse Phillips (bass)\, Browan Lollar (guitar)\, Kevin Leon (drums)\, Al Gamble (keyboards)\, Allen Branstetter (trumpet)\, Chad Fisher (trombone)\, and Amari Ansari (saxophone). \nTheir new self-titled sixth album marks a creative renewal — melding the band’s adventurous spirit with a return to soulful\, song-focused roots. Recorded at the legendary FAME Studios and produced by Eg White (Adele\, Celine Dion)\, the record blends psych-funk grooves\, gospel-tinged ballads\, and cinematic rock flourishes. Even Sir Elton John took notice\, inviting them to perform at his Oscar party. SUMMARY:North Carolina Symphony: What Makes Music\, Music?
DESCRIPTION:For more than 75 years\, the North Carolina Symphony’s Education Concerts have inspired generations of students through one of the nation’s most extensive symphony education programs. Designed for students in grades 3-5\, these concerts introduce the instruments of the orchestra while exploring the fundamental elements of music through an interactive and engaging live concert experience. \nThe 2026/27 Education Concert\, What Makes Music\, Music?\, invites students to discover how melody\, rhythm\, tempo\, dynamics\, texture\, and form shape the music they hear. Featuring works by Mozart\, Strauss\, Joplin\, and more\, the program introduces students to a variety of musical styles and demonstrates how composers creatively use the elements of music in each piece.  \nEducators are encouraged to take advantage of the North Carolina Symphony’s free curriculum-aligned teacher resources and transportation funding opportunities to help make this field trip experience accessible and meaningful for every student. \nNote: A special performance featuring Hayes School of Music musicians will take place later the same evening at 7:30pm as part of the Appalachian Arts 2026/2027 series. The evening performance is free; bring the whole family! \n \n \n \n \n \n Run Time: ~ 60 minutesRecommended for: Grades 3-5Study Guide: download pdf here \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Tickets\nContact theschaefercenter@appstate.edu\, call 828-262-4046\, visit the box office at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts\, or register online. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n $5/person \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register group of 25+ people\n \n Register group of fewer than 25 people\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About North Carolina Symphony\n \n \n \n \n \n Founded in 1932\, the North Carolina Symphony (NCS) is a vital and honored component of North Carolina’s cultural life.
