To test potential princesses\, the Queen subjects them to the “sensitivity test\,” involving sleeping on a bed with a pea hidden beneath 20 mattresses. This test is designed to be impossibly hard for any true princess to pass. Sir Harry and Lady Larken\, who are secretly going to have a baby\, are desperate for the ban to be lifted so they can marry. Sir Harry seeks out Princess Winnifred\, believing she could be the answer. Winnifred\, a feisty and unconventional princess\, arrives at the castle and challenges the Queen’s rigid rules and expectations. She doesn’t fit the mold of a “proper” princess and is seen as a breath of fresh air. The people of the kingdom begin to defy the Queen’s rules\, and Winnifred’s influence leads to a change in the kingdom’s atmosphere. She uses her wits and strength to charm the Prince and challenge the Queen. Ultimately\, Winnifred’s actions and the Prince’s own defiance of his mother’s control break a curse on the King\, who is finally able to speak again. This leads to the Queen’s reign being overthrown\, and the kingdom rejoices in its new freedom. Prince Dauntless and Princess Winnifred marry\, and Sir Harry and Lady Larken are finally able to wed\, marking a new era of happiness and freedom for the kingdom.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Educator Workshops\nThe APPlause! From East to West\, he has drawn on inexhaustible and ever-evolving traditions to nourish his world view. Be it to experience what is sacred or to celebrate\, music is the instrument he uses as his passport to discover different cultures. Guided by his passion for percussion as well as for dance and theatre\, Kattam is constantly setting a course for new horizons that bring out the depth of the human experience. \nAmong the music groups with whom he works\, Kattam strives to strike a balance between technical and intuitive styles\, inspired by the masters under whom he has trained. While staying true to the respective traditions of the instruments he plays\, he also blends styles and genres\, in keeping with the 21st century trend toward genre-bending. \nIn his youth projects\, Kattam acts as both a transmitter and a communicator. His original pieces place children front and center. Watch\, listen\, and\, above all\, participate! His aim is to foster a taste for music\, discovery and self-expression among these children\, to partake in celebrations specific to different cultures\, and to make both popular and spiritual music accessible — ultimately in order to teach children that beyond cultural differences lies a shared humanity. \nFor Kattam\, the stage\, first and foremost\, is a way to share this enthusiasm and the life force that drives him. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Educator Workshops\nThe APPlause! Yamoussa’s dream was the founding of a school of circus arts\, and to direct his own multidisciplinary company specializing in the African arts. Yamoussa first became interested in the Circus Arts as a young man growing up in Conakry Guinea in the 1990s\, studying the circus performers he saw on European TV and practicing on the beach and dirt around his home. He also studied the Nyamakala tradition of circus\, practiced by the Fula people of West Africa. Yamoussa eventually joined Guinea’s original circus company\, Circus Baobab\, with whom he toured Africa and Europe.  \nIn the early 2000s\, Yamoussa was recruited to Canada to perform with Cirque Eloize\, a Montreal-based cirque company.  While in Canada\, he also performed with Cirque du Soleil and Cavalia (cirque with horses). In 2007\, Yamoussa realized his dream and opened his own company\, Kalabanté Productions\, in Montreal\, Canada. He recruited many of his extended family members to join the company\, including his twin sisters\, brothers\, and cousins. \nThe company began performing in Quebec\, and over the years\, expanded across Canada\, the US\, and now performs all over the world. In 2018\, Kalabanté opened its own studio and school in Montreal\, where classes are offered in African dance\, cirque\, and drumming. The Kalabanté Productions team is proud to share its work\, achievements and skills to inspire others and to assist with the humanitarian mission to help the Guinean community from which Yamoussa and many of his company members come. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Educator Workshops\nThe APPlause! Originally from Charlotte\, NC\, Epley first explored his passion for science in a lab he built in his parents’ basement. He just had to clean the basement first. (Clever parents!) This love of hands-on learning grew\, and he eventually went on to study chemistry and physics in a specialized high school\, the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. The first of its kind in the nation\, NCSSM is a residential school with such luxuries at the time as PhD professors\, its own electron microscope\, and a Minivac mainframe with campus-wide internet\, before the internet. From there\, Epley continued his studies at the university level\, exploring a degree in Chemical Engineering. \nAlong the way\, however\, he found a second passion — performing — and by joining the two\, David has created the most fulfilling work of his life. Over the last 16 years as Doktor Kaboom\, he has performed more than 2\,000 live shows to a cumulative audience of over 2\,000\,000 students and families worldwide. \nDavid believes in service\, is a veteran of the US Army\, and for five years served his community as a firefighter and EMT. Home is now Seattle\, Washington\, with his magnificent wife\, Annie. Occasionally they even hear from their two amazing daughters. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Educator Workshops\nThe APPlause!
